Kristian Berg Harpviken
is the Director of the International Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO)
. Harpviken is a sociologist, whose research interests include the dynamics of civil war (mobilisation, conflict resolution, post-war reconstruction and peacebuilding); migration and transnational communities; and methodology in difficult contexts. He has a particular interest in Afghanistan and its neighbourhood. He is the author of Social Networks and Migration in Wartime Afghanistan
, (Palgrave Macmillan, 2009).
