María Villellas Ariño has been a researcher for the Conflict and Peacebuilding Programme at the Escola de Cultura de Pau (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) since 2002. Her area of expertise is conflict and peacebuilding in South Asia, as well as gender and peacebuilding. She has done field research in Haiti, Sri Lanka, Nepal and north-east India. She lectures in gender and peacebuilding at several Spanish universities. She has co-authored the last nine editions of Alert! Report on Conflicts, Human Rights and Peacebuilding and is also co-author of 1325 Mujeres Tejiendo la Paz (1325 Women Weaving Peace) . She holds a master’s in Women, Gender and Citizenship Studies from the Inter-University Institute of Women’s Studies and Gender Research.
