Many of the states considered to be fragile are affected by armed conflict and violence. NOREF therefore devotes particular attention to the relationship between state fragility and conflict, approaches to peacebuilding in fragile states and the relationship between peace- and statebuilding.
This includes work on transnational phenomena that contribute to conflict and state fragility; on youth and armed violence; and on economic factors that sustain armed violence and undermine peacebuilding in fragile contexts.
