This report follows the developments in Afghanistan after an offer of reconciliation was made by the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton to the moderate Taliban and their reaction. The update also lists reactions around the world for the law passed by the Afghan parliament seriously curtailing womens rights especially of the Shia women.
For Pakistan, the report explains the turbulent round of negotiations carried out by the NWFP government with the militants (TNSM) in Swat and the subsequent signing of the peace accord that promises to implement Niza-e-Adl (system of justice) regulations that militants were demanding. The report also refers to the alleged rift between the Pakistani security establishment and the US administration.
